ASA Info
Happy Thursday!
RSVP deadlines for ASA have been pushed back to next Wednesday, the 19th
The championship meet is one of the best parts of my summer to this day! Georgia Tech is kind enough to host summer league teams all over Atlanta every summer and allow swimmers to compete in one of the fastest pools in the US.
General Info:
June 27th at 9:30, departing around 7 am
Entry fee: $48 per swimmer
Swimmers do not have to qualify for this meet, other than being able to swim an entire lap unassisted. This meet is not the most friendly to young children because it has three deep pools and is quite large, so please consider your child's capability and comfort zone. Know that a coach or parent will be with your child almost every step of the way.
Events:
Most swimmers attending the ASA meet will have 2-4 races ( maximum of 2 individuals and 2 relays) and will be able to choose their individual events. Your swimmer will have a better chance of placing higher in certain events (freestyle will always be VERY competitive so unless free is their best stroke by far, I suggest choosing their best non-free events).
Additionally, if your child is attending the ASA meet please text me what two individual events your swimmer would like to race by the afternoon of the 20th, otherwise, I will pick something for them and it CANNOT BE CHANGED.
Volunteers:
We will need 1 volunteer per 20 swimmers attending who will fill an ASA job (timer, bullpen, etc). However, we will also need the help of a few parents to escort swimmers to the bullpen, watch bags, and carpool swimmers to the meet.
State Teams:
Additionally, swimmers attending the ASA meet will have a unique opportunity to qualify for a state team like City of Alpharetta (COAST) or the Johns Creek Aquatic Team (JCAT). Your swimmers must be 6-18 yo for JCAT or 7-18 for COAST to participate in either of these programs. Practices run through June and July, finishing with the GRPA State Championship.
For your swimmer to be eligible to swim for state, I must put a marker identifying them, so please text me if you are interested. They do not have to swim for the state team even if they have the marker, this just provides a way for the officials to know who to look for within the top swimmers that place.
I have attached pdfs below with more info.
More details to come. I would love to answer any questions!
Thanks,
